Registered Nurse, Clinical Risk Consultant

About me
Welcome to my e-portfolio. The purpose of this e-portfolio is to share my thoughts and reflections as I embark on a Masters of Health Sciences, as well as create a space to organize and highlight resources and references.
I started my nursing career in 2003 as a diploma nurse. I worked on inpatient surgical floors caring for a wide variety of patients including those who are recovering from vascular surgery, hand reattachments, orthopedic surgery, and urologic/gynocologic procedures. I have spent the majority of my career in the Operating Room, first as an expert orthopedic scrub and circulating nurse, then as an OR Coordinator (Nurse Manager). I was passionate about the Operating Room and placed a high value on efficiency and competence.
In this next stage of my career, I am employed as a Clinical Risk Consultant. In my role I review adverse events affecting patients, use enterprise risk management to mitigate patient and organizational risks, and liaise with legal counsel to defend the hospital in litigation.
